The process / from idea to everyday

Good work
starts with a conversation.

A clear direction, a considered design and a practical path through the details.

From first thought to final detail

Four steps.
One clear direction.

01 /Listen

Every project starts with the room, the people who use it and the things it needs to do. A useful brief gives the work a clear direction.

02 /Design

Layouts, storage needs, materials and small details are considered together. The direction is agreed before moving into the build.

03 /Make

The design becomes a carefully coordinated piece of joinery, with clear communication around the details and the sequence of work.

04 /Settle in

The last stage is about making the space work as intended, with a considered handover and a clear explanation of the finished details.

Before we begin

A few useful
questions.

Where does a project begin?

With a brief: the type of space, what it needs to do, the style you are drawn to and your priorities.

Can a project work with an existing design?

The fictional studio model allows collaboration around an approved design, with responsibilities and the details agreed in advance.

When are budget and timing discussed?

During the initial brief. The scope, materials, responsibilities and programme would be clarified before work begins.

What should I include in an enquiry?

The kind of room or joinery you are considering, your priorities, any design direction and an indicative budget if you have one.

Let’s start
with your space.
